Our Story

In March 2022, Suhaidatu Dramani shared with her friends and fellow feminists her dream to provide a safe and welcoming place for girls living in Teshie, where she was born and raised.

The fourth most populated town in Ghana, Teshie is plagued with various socio-economic challenges of the Ghanaian working class, Suhaidatu understood first-hand the need to carve out and hold space for women and girls within the community. The Good Tree is the realization of that dream.

Our name, The Good Tree, is inspired by the Akan proverb ‘Wo foro dua pa a na yɛpia wo’, meaning, ‘It is when you climb a good tree that you are given a push’.
